A primer course on Lung Ultrasound (LUS) and ultrasound of the diaphragm (DUS) for Internists, Emergency physicians, Pneumologists, Emergency and Critical Care Physicians, and all clinicians dealing with the acute patient.
The course provides the basis on lung ultrasound fundamentals and methodology, the nuts and bolts of the scanning technique, on interpretation of the findings, and subsequently delves into the state-of-the-art LUS applications for the clinician approaching respiratory failure Diaphragmatic ultrasound applications are also presented.
The content on LUS is conform to the proceedings of the first International Consensus Conference on Lung Ultrasound (ICC-LUS) (Volpicelli G., et al. “International Evidence-Based Recommendations for point-of-care Lung Ultrasound” – INTENSIVE CARE MED 2012; 38: 577-591).
